I have found a new book that is SO INSPIRATIONAL! I am really excited to share it with you today!

A Pocketful of Seeds

Do you ever have thoughts similar to:

  • What can I do to change the world?
  • There is so much darkness in the world; how do I make a difference?
  • I’m too busy to really do anything of importance.
  • I don’t have enough time/money/connections, etc. to make a difference.

Well, I’ve had all of those thoughts, but a new book I’m reading,  A Pocketful of Seeds, is reminding me that those are not God’s thoughts for my life.

A Pocketful of Seeds

Through reading this truly inspiring book, I’m being reminded that each person has what author Debbie Johnson calls a “pocketful of seeds” to plant for positive change in the world. Johnson has written 365 short, daily “seeds” that are inspired by the teaching of Jesus. They include ideas about giving, praying serving, adding beauty, and simply “doing the next thing.”

A Pocketful of Seeds

I have to be honest, when I first heard about A Pocketful of Seeds, I wasn’t sure if it was for me. I thought maybe it would be a long to-do list that would just make me feel guilty for not doing more. But it is truly not that way at all! It is refreshing and hopeful and mind expanding! It’s full of Scriptures, enlightening quotes, and statistics. Johnson gives wonderful ideas about how to be the change that this world needs. She gives names of specific organizations that are really making a difference and shows practical ways to get involved. When I read my daily “seed” I am left with feelings of “I can do this!” and “I want to do this!”

  1. I have my favorite items on my nightstand so this would go there as well, thanks!

  2. I would keep this on my side table next to the spot on the couch I head to first thing in the morning. It sounds great!

  3. Probably on one of my end tables so that anyone who comes over could look through it and benefit from it as well.
