Spring is here! The grass has really brightened over to green in this last week. The other day we went out to the pastures to see the baby calves born – boy, are they cute! I love to see the varieties – some all black, others with white speckles on their tails and face. Some are getting a sun bath, others frolicking with the fresh hay delivery, and some are staying close to mom.
Robins have filled our yard lately. Yesterday I caught a glimpse of a cardinal fluttering in the pine tree. I’ve heard several meadowlarks now on the gravel road by our house.
The bulbs have emerged and in some cases, we have a few daffodil blooms. The trees are budding and I noticed the Forsythia about ready to burst. What an invigorating time of year this is – and so hope-filled!
Next Sunday will already be Easter. It snuck up on me. I need to prepare for this special week ahead. Have you used Resurrection Eggs? We are getting a late start, but they are a fun and simple way for kids to understand the Easter story. Many of us will be setting the table for company, finalizing a menu, and maybe even participating in an egg hunt or two.
Preparing is a lot of the fun for me. I have several sets of teacups and saucers passed down to me from my Grandmother – each one is so unique. I use one at each place setting and fill them with a pansy and greenery. If you plan to use the teacups for drinking, then make sure to line the cup with foil or plastic wrap first. I also love to use fresh flowers whenever possible – they are a beautiful reminder of the season.
As for the menu…I’m still working on it – but we will definitely be having Deviled Eggs
Pineapple Pretzel Salad – such a delicious combination of sweet and salty – yum!
Hot Cross Buns
And I can’t decide between Carrot Cake or Angel Food Cake, maybe both!?! 🙂
Be sure to check out other Easter favorites here.
