There is just something about a warm dessert right out of the oven, gets me every time. Summer has faded away and so have all the cherries that my Mom so kindly picked, pitted and froze for me. (Really, she did it for my husband, as cherry pie is his all-time favorite dessert. Is that a good Mother-in-law or what?)
Back to the dessert…with cherries serving as an ingredient in one of my husband’s favorite desserts, I try to find new ways to use canned cherries when they are out of season. This Cherry Cobbler has just 4-ingredients and good or bad is considered to be a “dump” dessert. Now let me clarify Dump for you. It means pretty much no work, just Dump the ingredients in the pan as directed and bake! In this form, I would say “Dump” is a positive! 😜
The four ingredients in this dessert include: canned cherries, almond extract, boxed yellow cake mix and unsalted butter. (Adding in the almond extract to the canned cherries makes the dessert taste more like a fresh cherry dessert. It’s that simple, four ingredients, dump and bake for a warm fruit dessert.
Be sure to check out the recipe below to see how easy this dessert really is. Top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you can’t g wrong!
