During this time of the year, all of the men of the family are working so hard in the field to harvest the corn and soybeans. We wanted to make a special meal to take out to the field to recharge their batteries and to find new enthusiasm to finish the large task at hand. It is also such a beautiful time of year, and we all wanted to celebrate all of the beauty that surrounds us.
So, we planned a Field Tailgating Party. Each of us gingham apron girls planned a few fall-feeling dishes and met up in a field with our kids and husbands. We had a wonderful time visiting, eating yummy food, and enjoying the beautiful farm scenery of fall, complete with a big yellow combine as our backdrop. We laughed because when we say “tailgating party” we really use our tailgate!
Everyone really enjoyed the hearty, Midwestern fare that we served up. Here are a few of the favorite dishes from that fun night.
