Get Ready for Summer Reading Giveaway Series, week 4
So far in our giveaway series, I’ve shared a novel rich with heart-felt life issues (Becoming Us) and a powerful book about relationships (Mended). Just last week, we featured a favorite children’s book, God’s Protection Covers Me.
Thank you for all that have entered our giveaways! I’m having so much fun sticking fun books in the mail for you winners. And I hope you’re finding lots of new books that will make your summer reading really terrific. We’ve tried to have a little something for everyone, and today we’re sharing a fantasy book for teens, A Pursuit of Truth.
A Pursuit of Truth is really extra-super-duper-special to me because its written by my own daughter, Olivia! And today is her fourteenth birthday!
This year for English, Olivia took a creative writing class at a homeschool academy called Eden Learning Academy. All fall, the students learned about the the writing process of a novel including character and plot development. She did all kids of research on characters and locations and designed a moodboard for her story.
Then after Christmas, she starting writing like a madwoman. I constantly heard the tap-tap-tap of her laptop as she daily crafted her story. She completed one chapter a week, and she and her classmates helped each other edit as she went along. Then voila: a few weeks ago a published and printed book arrived in the mail.
Here is the story synopsis: When her parents unexpectedly go missing and a mysterious woman shows up at her doorstep, fourteen-year-old Foryst Garrison must travel to a different dimension to find her parents. Along the way, she also learns some shocking truths about herself and who she really is.
If you like suspense, fantasy, and surprise, you’ll love this book! It is in a similar genre as A Wrinkle in Time or The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe.
As a sidenote, we have been homeschooling now for almost ten years, and unique opportunities such as writing and publishing a novel are some of my favorite benefits. If you want to take a closer look at what homeschooling is like in our family, check out the Our Schoolhouse.
Ok! So, who wants to win a copy of this fun book?! Enter by commenting on this question: What was your favorite book as a teenager? Good luck!
***Giveaway ends on Tuesday, June 4th at 11:59 p.m.***
