***We first published this post back in 2016. A lot has changed since then, but we are still loving these recipes and hope that you do, too.***
Happy Valentine’s Day!
“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
How do we Gingham Apron Gals celebrate Valentine’s Dinner? We usually spend it at home with our husbands and families. Why not at a fancy restaurant? Well, some of us live way out in the country. Some of us have little children and need to dine in. And some of us just love the comfort of home and the familiarity of homemade, favorite dishes.
So, we put together this menu in hopes that you can enjoy a delicious Valentine’s dinner at home, too. We had a great time getting together, sharing some of our most simple, make-ahead dishes that taste great but don’t require us to slave away on Valentine’s Day. We snapped a few pictures of our recipes (and then of course had a delicious lunch together chatting away!)
A Simple, Yet Elegant Valentine’s Day Dinner Menu
Marinated Steak with Garlic Butter
Roasted Asparagus with Mushrooms and Onion
We started with steak, because our husbands (and we, too!) love a great steak. For something special, Molly shared her Marinated Steak with Garlic Butter Recipe. It is tender, full of flavor, and so delicious.
Next for the sides…. Shelby loves to add healthy and delicious veggies to her meals. This recipe for Roasted Asparagus with Mushrooms and Onions does not disappoint; they’re colorful, crisp, and full of flavor.
And because we are a steak and potatoes kind of family… Molly shared this simple, scrumptious recipe for Roasted Potatoes.
And finally, we needed something wonderful for dessert. When we think Valentine’s, we think chocolate. My mom (Denise) has been making Mocha Brownie Torte for years, and it is a decadent, simple treat. Decadent, because it is rich and full of the flavors of whipped cream, coffee, and chocolate. And simple because it is made with a…. wait for it…. brownie mix! Best of all, It’s a make-ahead recipe that chills in the fridge until dinner.
Well, if you’re like us and enjoy spending Valentine’s Dinner at home with your sweetheart, make a reservation for two in your kitchen, and try a few of these recipes. Happy Valentine’s Day!!
