Armstrong Redwoods in Northern California

Recently, my family and I had the chance to visit the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, about an hour north of San Fransisco. It was AMAZING! I was unable to capture the pure majesty and size of these phenomenal, giant trees, but I tried…

Yes, that is my ten-year-old at the bottom left of this next picture. I think it shows the scope of these beasts. It looks like he is in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. 

When we entered the park, we were immediately shocked at how eerily quiet the forest is. A sense of peace and tranquility truly enveloped us, and we instantly realized just how small we are in comparison to these works of God. Sometimes its such a good feeling to feel small. It helps me realize how big God is and how he truly has got everything under control! This verse expresses my thoughts in a much better way… 

Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”

Moss, ferns, and shamrocks abounded, and while we were hiking we stumbled upon this amazing waterfall. The kids enjoyed exploring it for over and hour. I think it is SO beneficial for children to get out and freely explore new environments. They were so refreshed. Being in God’s creation is so therapeutic.
