Spring 2016
As I was outside by myself on another sunny afternoon finishing up feeding our bottle calf, I started hearing and noticing some robins around me that were being noisy, due to the fact that I was only paying attention to the calf and not the robins. I get done feeding the calf and turn around and there stood a baby robin on the ground trying to find its mommy and daddy and watching me at the same time. I stopped ( with the calf bottle in my hand) and looked at the baby bird. I started pondering. Then I thought to myself “hmm…Oh so this is why these adult Robins are hollering at me— they have a baby roaming around and don’t want me near it.” Well, you want to know what I did? I started going against the mommy and daddy robins authority, put down the calf bottle, and started following the baby robin around by the gate where our bottle calf is. In the mean time ( I wish I had a picture of this) the calf is sticking its head out the gate wiggling around wondering what’s going on and trying to reach me like he wants more to eat. As I got closer to the baby robin I picked it up and held it in my hands for the longest time. (Meanwhile mommy and daddy are scolding me) As I was petting it I had thoughts running through my head. I started to remember that this IS spring time and had forgotten that there are so many baby animals that are born in the spring. Spring is such a fun and beautiful time of the year that you may get to experience new lives of animals that were born or when they get a little older and they pop out of no where and and you get to watch what they do and enjoy the cuteness of their looks.
As I sit here looking out our living room window I just think about how life is so beautiful and how we all need to enjoy it
