Blessed Beach Wedding & More Family

The Wedding….

Have you ever been to a beach wedding? Mr. Farmer and I, your typical Midwestern farm couple, had the privilege of experiencing our very first “authentic” (and intimate) beach wedding on the Jersey shore last weekend.

At home our landscape is grazing cattle in green pastures with rows of soybeans and corn fields surrounding us. Theirs? the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, with all of it’s power, glory, beauty, breeze and unforgettable sound of the crashing waves upon the shore. To have THIS scene for a wedding backdrop is…..BREATHTAKING!

So, below are  few highlights of our spectacular weekend, filled with love and joy! Meeting up with our own family was awesome. We love being with them! Welcoming Shannon into our family was such an honor. And welcoming her family to join ours was a beautiful experience.

Bride Shannon (below) just couldn’t be any nicer or prettier. Surfer Dad Bill, was proud and humbled and honored to present his daughter to Tyler. (Yes, I cried….again.) So thankful!

Our nephew, Tyler, married the girl of his dreams. They first met during high school. Then, a few years later, their paths crossed again and the timing was perfect for them to fall in love. Our entire family welcomes Shannon into our family with open arms.

The wedding was a small, intimate family wedding. One side of Shannon’s  family comes from New Jersey; the other side, Pennsylvania, and what a lovely family it is. Tyler’s folks, Tom and Cary,  are originally Midwesterners. They now live in New York and have escorted us on many trips on the east coast.

Sweet niece, Mariel, being excorted down the path by husband John and Punkin’ Head Lukey.
Jakob and neice, Jillian, sister of the groom. She, too, is a photographer and captured many great photos. They are still newlyweds in my book. Their wedding was in Jakob’s home country of Sweden just a couple years ago. They are so fun to be with.
Courtney and Billy, Shannon’s siblings! Simply great people and so, so happy for their sister and Tyler.
Father and mother of the groom, brother, Tom and Cary

Father and mother of the bride, Bill and Cyndi. Feeling happy and blessed.
The unique altar area  made of driftwood framed the couple beautifully.

The Pastor, a dear friend of Shannon’s family, is a Scottish fellow who knew what he was talking about as He preached the Word of God to us. He had a great sense of humor, too!

Tyler and Shannon–just after saying their “I do’s”. Talk about a happy couple!

The Reception…

Beautiful “beach motif” cake. The peach peonies were gorgeous! Did I mention how delicious it was? Served with this outstanding cake were decadent chocolate covered strawberries, macaroons dipped in chocolate and another yummy cookie. Simply out of the world!
Shannon’s aunts and uncles–such warm and welcoming folks!

This little old lady was passing out the after dinner mints. Cracked us up! She wanted a photo with Kay and brother Craig! 😉

Time Together….

Enjoyed time with brothers and their wonderful wives. Here’s a pic of them hangin’ together:

The Location….

Close to the shore

Our hotel was half a block from the boardwalk and shore at Ocean City. Below the flag is the ocean.

Beach buggies….walkers…..joggers…..runners….surfers…….sunbathers…….this was a hoppin’ place. We loved it!

The beach was full of colorful umbrellas and scads of people.

Wooded drive

To our surprise the short drive from Philadelphia to Ocean City was wooded almost the entire time! This was our first time to this area. It was so green and beautiful.

As you can see, these photos are raw–not even close to professional. Still, I  was excited to show you all. It was such a fun and blessed weekend. I am grateful to God that He combined our families together through this blessed union!

Marriage…..

Marriage. It’s a good thing! And it’s all God’s idea.

Congratulations, Tyler and Shannon!

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18

24: “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.”

    1. Nina,
Thanks for sharing! Ocean City was a pretty amazing place. I’d love to go back and take the whole family. There’s so much to see and do. Memories of places like this are the best. It’s so enriching to be able to identify with a place. Would love to hear some of of your stories. The hustle and bustle of the boardwalk is certainly a great place to be! Watching the ocean, eating a variety of delicious foods and shopping away–so cool!
