Are you ready for a super simple recipe with sneaky healthy ingredients that tastes delicious? This one was originally introduced to us by Granny, she is the queen smoothie maker; however, we too, have adopted some of her tricks. Because she makes a smoothie every day, my kids (and myself included) love these healthy smoothies. The best part is that no one really knows all the healthy vitamins and minerals because it doesn’t really taste like anything other than a creamy blueberry treat!
Granny loves to make “Green Smoothies” which have green apples and kale. We changed things up with this one and added some frozen fruit – I used the “Cherry Berry” blend that Fareway carries in the freezer section. Then we add in a bit of fresh blueberries and some fresh kale. A sweet friend from church, brought me all these wonderful fresh vegetables and a sack full of kale. Not only is kale great for salads and sauted with pasta or just by itself, but use it often for fresh smoothies – and really no one even knows its in there 😉 I personally, just love the woody, kale flavor in smoothies because it makes them not quite as sweet.
Blend away and one will end up with this colorful, juicy, refreshing drink. Enjoy for breakfast, or an after school snack 🙂
