Today I want to tell you about The Broken Way: A Daring Path into the Abundant Life, the newest book from one of my favorite authors, Ann Voskamp.
Voskamp is a writer whose words have truly changed my life. I have read and reread about finding everyday joy in One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are
and I’ve also truly treasured her Christmas book, The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping the Story of Christmas.
So when I saw that she was publishing a new book, The Broken Way, I was thrilled. The back of the book said “There’s a way, especially when things aren’t shaping up quite like you imagined, that makes life take the shape of more- more abundance, more intimacy, more God.” This statement really peeked my interest.
Voskamp writes in such an honest, vulnerable way that makes it so easy for me to relate to her. I also love that she writes about the beauty that surrounds her on her farm, in her (seven!) children, and in her marriage.
This book is no different. Voskamp explores several questions that challenge so many of us including:
What’s the answer to suffering, to the brokenness of all our hearts?
What do you do if you really want to know abundant wholeness- before it’s too late?
Where do we find peace?
In an honest, gritty, common way, Voskamp observes in the Bible and in her daily life that brokenness is not something that we need to run from, but rather something that should be embraced.
This is such an upside-down, opposite, refreshing approach to life. Instead of waiting until everything about life seems perfect, we can begin to let God use us, in all of our imperfectness, for his glory today.
And ultimately and most importantly, Voskamp encourages all of us to look for our peace- not in a place or in things or in new experiences- but in a person, Jesus.
So if you ever feel inadequate, broken, anxious, unsure… this book is for you. It will tenderly and powerfully encourage you toward more abundant living, something that we all crave.
We would love to give The Broken Way: A Daring Path into the Abundant Life to one of our readers. Enter below! The giveaway will end Wednesday, November 2nd.

Well, I’m happiest reading on vacation on a chaise under a canopy, but aside from that, at home on the couch, the swivel chair, or the big leather chair — although the latter is so comfortable that I invariably end up napping! Of course, that’s because I sit with my head on one arm rest and my legs flung over the other arm rest, not sitting in it like it’s a chair. Just might have something to do with it…!!!

My favorite place to read is on the deck. I can soak up the sun’s warmth and appreciate God’s tapestry, with my dogs at my feet, happy to get a pat every now and then.
