Buttermilk Brownies

Ingredients
- For the brownies:
- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 t. baking soda
- ¼ t. salt
- ½c. buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1½ t. vanilla
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. butter
- ⅓ c. unsweetened cocoa powder
- For the frosting:
- ⅜ c. or butter 6 T
- 4.5 T cocoa powder
- 4.5 T buttermilk
- 3 c. powdered sugar
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 350 degrees and put spray grease on 15 x 10 or 13 x 9 pan
- Put in a mixing bowl and stir flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
- Put in another small bow and mix the buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla.
- In a saucepan, heat to boiling the water, butter, and cocoa powder.
- Pour the chocolate mixture when it has just boiled into the flour/sugar mixture and mix with electric mixer. Then add the buttermilk / egg mixture and stir some more. Then pour it all into the pan.
- I set timer to 20 minutes and if its not done then, check it at one minute intervals.
- Just as the brownies are about done, begin the frosting.
- First measure out the powdered sugar into a bowl.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, buttermilk, and cocoa powder. Heat to boiling. Removed from heat, then add to the saucepan the powdered sugar. Pour on top of warm brownies.
