The kids and I have a December tradition that we call Advent in the Afternoons. Each day during our regular snack time, we make our afternoons festive and hopefully memorable by sipping on cups of tea, hot chocolate, or coffee while I read our favorite Christmas stories.
Each year, our pile of “favorites” grows, and this year I’m delighted to have found and added Twas the Evening of Christmas by Gleyns Nellist.
Fashioned after the much loved words of Dr. Clement C. Moore’s Twas the Night Before Christmas, this book beautifully tells the true story of the night Jesus was born. I absolutely love celebrating the birth of our savior with my kids by sharing a winsome, delightful book such as this one. It has quickly become a new family favorite.
The poetry is fun and lilting and the illustrations are endearingly warm. I know that your family will love this book, too!
Bonus! Check out Glenys Nellist’s website where you can download a free Twas the Evening of Christmas activity pack to go along with this book. This pack includes signed bookplates, bookmarks, Christmas ornaments, coloring sheets and other activities that your family will love. I just downloaded my copy today.
