There is something enticing about bread cooking in the oven. It just seems to lure people to the kitchen…kids stopping by asking, “Mom, what is that smell?” And my reply with a smirk on my face, “It’s cinnamon bread baking.” A few hours later the hubs stops in to give this sweet bread a try – his expression gives it away – and then he grabs another piece before hustling off to more fieldwork.
While I was in the mood for something like cinnamon rolls; however, I wanted less cleanup and there was no yeast to be found in the pantry. I thought this bread would be a simpler version, yet still providing cinnamon, icing, and the goodness of savory baked bread.
Cinnamon Swirl Bread
Due to the more recent brisk fall temperatures, and now getting closer to winter, I especially want to linger more around the table. Take more time for meals and savor conversations and relationships. I’m hoping this warm bread with hot coffee or tea will do just that. This may be a special awakening to greet those loved ones in the morning for upcoming holidays.
Enjoy with one of these gourmet hot drinks!

I was wondering about the 2 T. Water for the cinnamon swirl part…it’s super runny and I was wondering if that could possibly be a typo? Is it suppose to be 2 t.? Thanks!

Did you ever reply to the question of 2 tablespoons water for the swirl? I would love to try this!

Hi Kara & Twyla,
It is 2 Tablespoons, and it is runny. I use a tablespoon to drop spoonfuls over the bread. Then use a knife to make the swirl designs in it. Thanks for checking – I hope you enjoy it as much as we do 🙂
