Company’s coming tomorrow and work on the menu is underway. An abundance of fruits and vegetables are in season and so fresh, so…..think I’ll take advantage. It’s going to be an extra easy meal yet delicious.
It will be a perfect night for embracing the great outdoors. The children rough house on the trampoline, bump along in the little green cart pulled by the four-wheeler, race along in tag with flashlights and bike ride throughout the yard. We adults will reminisce and spend time catching up with what’s been going on in our lives. The fellowship of friends and family can’t be beat and so I’m wanting to make a menu that all ages will enjoy while capturing the great outdoors.
Menu:
Appetizer: Garden Salad cream cheese spread with Stacy’s Pita Chips, along with some relishes
Main Dish: Hamburgers and brats right off the grill……toasted buns. (Mr. Farmer will be in charge of the grill. He won’t be wearing a chef’s hat any time soon. 😉 )
Sides: Fresh roasting ears….just the ticket for for outdoors eating
Salad: Fresh tomatoes, green peppers and green onions, chopped and marinated in Italian Salad dressing. Yum!
Chips and Dip, of course
Dessert: Strawberry Shortcake.
Just click the link above for the homemade shortcake recipe. It’s easy and delicious! I can even make it a day ahead of time!
So…..if you’ve just learned you were having last minute company, what would you serve on your picnic table? Would love to hear your quick menu. Most importantly, it’s time spent with those precious people you’re connected with. Give them lots of love and attention. We all crave it!
