IF
IF your home is the one where friends and family are gathering….
IF you’re having overnight guests…..
IF there is cooking and baking to do…..
IF you see a lot of work ahead…..
THEN
BEGIN rounding the homestretch by looking to God and giving thanks.
Psalm 107 is good Psalm to stick your nose into while you’re having quiet time today.
I think of the song, “Count Your Blessings”. Name them one by one. Makes ya feel pretty thankful and grateful. When our days are full with work and responsibilities, it’s a good time to pause and count the big and small blessings we experience throughout our days. Sometimes we don’t even realize the blessings we have until they aren’t there, like clean water, hot water, air conditioning or heat. A refrigerator with food in it, a car in the garage and a warm bed to crawl into. Well, you get the picture. With every task today, stick an “I’m thankful for..” in there. It will cheer your heart and lighten your load. Most of all, be thankful for your relationships and do all you can to build them up. The Lord will help you.
TODAY
“I’m finishing up the menu and beginning the shopping list. Think I’ll make some pecan pie bars, which makes me think of my lovely Aunt Roma, the one who gave me this recipe so many moons ago. And that makes me feel so GRATEFUL for family, from immediate to extended; from very close by, to thousands of miles away. I am so thankful for my family. As long as I can remember, there has been loving and supportive family around my Thanksgiving table. The Lord has blessed abundantly. Let us together give Him thanks this week.
I love this recipe! Its so quick and makes so many little pieces of “pecan pie”.
Okay…..better get to work.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
