Fourth of July is right around the corner. I have so many fond memories of spending the day with family friends at the local town celebration. Parade, amusement rides, lots of delicious food and of course, fireworks. No wonder, it was my favorite holiday!
This recipe for Crockpot Chicken Drumsticks gives a delicious slow cooked, off the BBQ taste with just a few minutes of prep! They can cook away while you are out and about enjoying the festivities and just before it’s time to serve them, broil them on both sides for a delicious meal.
- 4.5 lbs bone in, skin on chicken drumsticks
- 1 T brown sugar
- 1 T paprika
- 1 t garlic powder
- 1 t onion powder
- 1 t dry mustard
- ¼ t cayenne pepper
- salt and pepper
- 1¾ cups Barbecue sauce
- Combine seasonings and sugar and pour into a gallon size baggie.
- Place your chicken in the bag a few at a time and shake to coat
- Place coated chicken in your crockpot (will most likely overlap)
- Drizzle with ¾ cup of your favorite BBQ and toss to coat
- Cover and cook on low for apprx 4-6 hours.
- Cover baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray
- Arrange chicken on prepared baking sheet
- Brush with ½ cup of BBQ sauce and broil 2-5 minutes until chicken is crisp and slightly charred
- Turn chicken legs to opposite side and brush with remaining BBQ sauce and broil for an additional 2-5 minutes until crisp and slightly charred.
