No joke. That’s what the recipe card is entitled, “Delicious Cookies!” This is a very old recipe of my mom’s. Our neighbor was Agnes, my grandmother’s best friend. She and my grandmother were great cooks, so I know this will be a good one. It calls for oleo and oil. Whew! It ought to be delicious with two kinds of shortening!! 😉 The first batch is in the oven, so I’ll let you know what I think.
Takes about 12 minutes in the oven.
- Mix in order given:
- 1 C margarine
- 1 C vegetable oil ( I used corn)
- 1 C sugar
- 1 C brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 t soda
- 1 t cream of tartar
- 3 t vanilla
- 3/2 C flour
- 1 C Rice Krispies
- ½ C chocolate chips
- ½ C coconut
- 1 C quick olled oats
- In large bowl, mix in order the ingredients given.
- Drop by teaspoon onto baking sheet.
- Bake 350 degrees for 12-13 min
Mr. Farmer and Farmer Joe are hauling bulls out of the pen to pastures around the area. They have no time to sit and chat with a tall glass of iced tea in one hand and a cookie in the other. They must get all the bulls delivered to the correct pastures before Ava’s softball game tonight. That’s the most important item on the agenda for today. 🙂 She’s 8 and it’s so fun to watch the next generation “batter up!”
Guess I’ll bag up some of these “delicious cookies” to take to the game with us. Been raining all day and there’s more coming. Hope we can dodge the showers for about an hour so we can see our little punkin’ Ava play ball. It’s one of my all time favorite pastimes. I LOVE SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL!! Especially when our grandchildren play. Do you? Grew up at the ball field and still love going. So far I’ve seen 5 generations play ball in my family.
Yep, these cookies are worth baking. Give them a try.

Oh my! Better edit this recipe. It calls for 3 1/2 C of flour. I fix this right away!

I got a recipe very similar to this from the older lady that lived across the road when my kids were little. It was called Catch-all Cookies. About the only difference is we use 1/2 chocolate chips and 1/2 butterscotch chips. She used crushed cornflakes instead of Rice Krispies. I substituted Rice Krispies when I didn’t have any cornflakes in the house.
