Hey, dear readers. This is the third week in the row that we have a wonderful book + a giveaway to tell you about. Hopefully we are giving you a few great Christmas gift ideas!
This week, I’m thrilled to tell you about an enchanting new book called Farm to Film: An Alphabetical Adventure told Throug the Eyes of An Old Lens, written an illustrated by Hannah Miles Pierrou.
This book is just so whimsical and fun! Each page is full of endearing images from the farm as seen through the eyes of a child as she is visiting her grandparents’ farm and chronicalling her visit by taking pictures throughout the day. This book really hits home for me as a former farm girl. Also, as I am writing this, my three big kids are visiting their grandparents’ farm in Iowa, and I have been receiving text messages with images of their favorite place, the farm.
Something that is also so lovely about this book is that it is an A-Z book, with an object for each letter of the alphabet.
GIVEAWAY! We have one book + one wooden camera set to giveaway to one of our readers. If you’d like to be entered into the giveaway, just leave a comment below. We’ll chooose a random winner on Wednesday, December 1st.

Thank you for introducing this book to me. I would share this book with my little ones as we venture around our heritage farm. Would share with elder relatives who lived on a farm during their life span. Am requesting our library order this book so many may have this experience vicariously again. Mary
Annie says
Thank you for your kind comment and for requesting this for your library. That is a great way to support an author!

We are just now taking over Grandma’s farm! Our children are super excited to enjoy the new freedoms of being out in nowhere! 😆. This book is one I’m going to have to get!

The freedom of living in the country is so valuable.

Just what I’ve seen brings back wonderful memories of my grandparents’ farm just outside the little town of Finchford, just a smidge southwest of Waverly, IA! Summer vacation spent there helping them was such a precious gift!
Memories…going to bed early so I could be up with grandpa when he milked cows or ride with my uncle on his milk route picking milk up from farmers to take in Carnation in Waverly and helping make hay when I was older.
Thanks for the “trip”!
Annie says
Thank you for your lovely comment! I’m so glad that you have such wonderful memories of those precious times spent together. My kids are visiting their grandparents’ farm this week, and I know they are making lots of warm and good memories with grandpa and grandma.

I’d love to receive the book and camera! I, too, grew up on a farm and moved away when I married. Sadly, none of my immediate family still live on an Iowa family farm, although an uncle and his grown children and grandchildren do. My oldest son told his grandpa that he never wanted to be a farmer “it is too much work!”. He was about 7 years old at the time, but I miss farm-life nearly every day. (That son married a farmer’s daughter; he and his family are spending Thanksgiving on HER folk’s family farm!)
I’m thinking this would make a PERFECT gift for my sisters as well as OUR grandchildren!
Jen says
I would be most interested in this book as well!
My son just graduated from college and is working on a small produce farm. It’s too adorable to see the owner’s 5 year old footin around and explaining the whole farm life, even down to edible plants-at 5!!
Annie says
Wow! How cool! What an interesting and eduational childhood.
Annie says
Sounds like you all have a beautiful farm heritage! 7 year olds say the funniest things.

This book brings back memories to me from when my children were young. I use to read to them, color with my children and do crafts. We use to live in the country and be able to enjoy the peacefulness and quiet when we were outside.
Annie says
How wonderful to raise kids in the country. I love that.
Mary says
What a lovely book to read, and have in my library for others to read. I did not grow up on a farm, but for several years my family lived in a farming community, and the farming families were always so gracious. Thank you in advance if I win the book. Happy Thanksgiving season to your family. God’s blessings. ❤ Mary
