Field Trip #4, The Science Center of Iowa

My family uses My Father’s World for our home school curriculum.  One thing that I love about it is that is uses a 4-day school week.  That leaves Fridays to be a make-up day, light day, or field trip day.  This year, my kids and I are going to try to take field trips around our city on Fridays. We are challenging ourselves to try a lot of new places.

Summary:

Our latest field trip was to the Science Center of Iowa.  We have been there several times before, and the kids always have a great time and learn lot.  This time, they especially loved making and launching rockets, and going to the planetarium where they learned more about Orion, a constellation we have studied a bit this year.

The highlight of the trip was that WHO TV was doing a live noon weather broadcast in which the kids got to participate.  Check out their calender if you’d like to participate.
