We have had beautiful weather here in Iowa these past few days, perfect transition into the month of May. Hard to believe it is already May 1st, Happy May Day! Are you going to be delivering May Baskets? (Oh, the childhood memories)
The men have been busy with planting and spring work. Trying to get as much done when the weather is optimal and the ground is dry. Ever since our rainy day trip to Bass Pro Shops a few weeks ago (my kids think it is the best “vacation” ever. ha!), where we picked up some new fishing poles the kiddos have been begging to go fishing. One evening a few nights ago, Daddy surprised us and came home early to take us out to the pond. The kiddos were ecstatic! We loaded up the Spiderman and Barbie fishing poles, although not looking so new due to all the indoor practice they were getting, and headed out. It was such a beautiful evening, we all had a great time! We all love being outdoors, but even more than that, we love spending time as a family. In reality, it was not about the fishing, it was about the time spent together.
The kiddos are still talking about our “fishing trip”, we are so blessed to have a wonderful father and husband that is willing to take time out of his busy schedule to spend time with us. It refreshed us all and made us all feel special…just what we all needed in the midst of the long spring work hours.
What are your weekend plans? Maybe surprise your family with some quality time. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant or expensive. A picnic in your yard, a hike at a nearby lake or some other activity your family enjoys. It could even be just coming home early. After all….Time is the greatest gift we can give our children.

Happy May Day, everyone! Loved the family pics of fishing on the farm. It will be fun to read about May Day activities among the Herricks…bound to be chocked full of surprises! I recall pulling the little red wagon for my children to deliver the topsy turvey home-made baskets and Bob and Molly running to the neighbors’ doors, ringing the door bells, then running and hiding. Good times.

Cath,
Thank you for being a reader of this blog. We really appreciate it. When we got home from the farm today, my kiddos made some very home-madeMay Day baskets and delivered them to our neighbors as well. Your comment about your memories of Bob and Molly is very similar to what we experienced today. So fun to make those memories! Happy May Day to you as well. Hope you had a great day.
