I want to be more like a camel. Strange? Let me explain.
I often worry too much. I worry about things such as: my kids aren’t learning enough in school, and that they aren’t making enough progress with their musical instruments. I worry about my husband’s safety. I worry about the presidential election and the future of our nation. When I actually type these things out, they seem a little silly, but sometimes in the quiet of the night, my worries can seem overwhelming.
I read this quote recently, and it encouraged me to try to worry less and pray more. It encouraged me to lay my burdens down at the feet of Jesus who cares for me. I’m learning that worrying accomplishes nothing, while praying accomplishes a lot.
As a camel kneels before his master to have him remove his burden at the end of the day, so kneel each night and let the Master take your burden. -Corrie Ten Boom
Isn’t that a moving quote!?! I am so thankful that I can kneel before my master, too. Do you like this camel picture? I am including it to help me (and maybe you, too) to be more like a camel and kneel before my master.
(Sidenote: the above quote if from Corrie Ten Boom. Are you familiar with her incredible story? You can check it out here.)
I have also written these verses in my prayer notebook and in my daily calendar. Hopefully they encourage you too:
Cast All Your Cares Upon Him because he cares for you. Peter 5:7
When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. Psalm 94:19
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4
Be encouraged today, friend! Let’s be like camels and give our worries to the Lord. He cares so much for you and for me.
I leave you today with the words from one of my favorite old songs, What A Friend We Have In Jesus
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
