The kids and I were able to attend a most amazing event in Anaheim this past weekend. Greg Laurie, a pastor here in southern California, hosted his 29th Harvest Crusade in Angel Stadium. There were awesome bands, a motocross show, interviews with super interesting people, and then a message about God and his word, The Bible. Over 10,000 people made commitments to Christ.
Pastor Laurie spoke about the influence of the Bible on the history of the United States. He spoke about how influential men in our history such as the founders of the Ivy league schools, the founders of The Red Cross, The Salvation Army all trusted in the words of the Bible. He shared how he leaned on the words of the Bible when he and his wife lost a son in a car accident.
Personally, the Bible helps me to look to God. I can so easily be overwhelmed and burdened with my life. I feel a tremendous responsibility to “get things right” with raising our five kids, being a good wife and friend, taking care of my house, being a good wife, etc., etc. I’m sure you can relate, because we all have such pressing, important issues and responsibilities of our own.
Today I want to encourage you to look to God. Open your Bible. Read about God’s care for you.
Are you overwhelmed today? Look to the Lord.
Psalm 59:9 O my Strength, I will watch for you, for you, O God, are my fortress.
Are you frightened about something you can’t control? Give that problem to God who, unlike us, is able to carry it.
Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.
Is there anxiety in your thoughts? Read God’s Word and concentrate on who He is.
Psalm 94:19 When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.
Do you need someone to lean on, to trust?
Psalm 62:1 For God alone my soul waits in silence: from him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.
Perhaps you are reading this today and you need to invite God into your life. Maybe you need to begin a relationship with him. Check out these two posts, and always feel free to email us with any questions. And of us Gingham Apron ladies would love to talk to you about your faith.
An Invitation
A Relationship with God
I absolutely love this song right now! Have you heard it? It reminds me that when I’m overwhelmed, I can always look to God, my strength and my rock.
