A few nights ago, right before bedtime, I announced, “Tomorrow we are going to Grandma’s house!” Lots of excitement ensued, and there were many questions such as:
Can we ride in the combine?
Will the cousins be there?
Can we ride the 4-Wheeler?
Can I wear an outfit like Grandpa?
As I was tucking the kids in, I noticed that my five-year-old son had lain out an outfit that looked just like Grandpa’s. Priceless!
The next morning, we quickly got our morning responsibilities finished, loaded up, and headed to Grandma’s farm, which is about 45 minutes from our suburban home. Sure enough, when we arrived, there hugs from Grandma, lively cousins, yummy banana bread, and fun to be had in the “clubhouse” that Grandpa has been making.
The cousins had a wonderful time playing together, and we moms and grandma encouraged each other and laughed together.
What a wonderful way to spend a beautiful, fall day. A family farm is a blessing. And, a family who loves the Lord is an even bigger blessing.
While driving home, this was the verse that came to mind…
Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
