Everyday in the afternoons we have an hour of quiet time at our house. This is really a wonderful time where the kids (and I) have some quiet, restful time and recharge for the remainder of the day. The real question is, “Who needs this time more- mom or the kids?” I think we probably all know the question to that. 🙂
Anyway, during this time, the kids are allowed to read or listen to something on their cd players/kindles. Over the past few years, our kids have fallen in love with a few different programs and cds, and I wanted to share a few with you today.
Adventures in Odyssey
Come join Mr. Whitaker, Penny, Wootin, Olivia, Matthew, and other favorite characters in the town of Odyssey. Here the characters experiences adventures and mysteries all the while learning about godly character and God’s word. Our kids absolutely cannot get enough of Adventures in Odyssey. Each episode is so well written, compelling and thought provoking. I also love how much the kids have learned from these programs including biography, science, and historical lessons.
Paws and Tales
Journey into an exciting world where the truths of God’s Word are shared by a cast of lovable animal characters and the lessons learned are entertaining and life-changing. The kids think the animals in these stories are so cute and lovable, but each episode deals with serious issues and leads to some good conversations.
Lantern Music
My good friend Teresa first shared Lantern music with us last year, and our kids love it. It is scripture put to music, and it is so refreshing and wonderful. I can’t tell you how great it feels to overhear my four-year-old playing while singing, “I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord forever,” which is from Psalm 89, and is one of the songs on his Lantern Music CD. You can listen to Lantern music for free here.
Keys for Kids Podcast
This is a daily devotional that is about 3-5 minutes in length. The stories are really interesting and they are tied to a Bible verse or story. We love to listen to these in the car on quick trip around town. The kids LOVE them! Find them here!
