Father’s Day is next Sunday!
You know, I was thinking today that Father’s Day is for ALL of us. Now you might be like me who has a wonderful earthly dad, and I look forward to this day each year so that I can tell him how much I love him.
That’s my dad! He’s the best!
But, you may be like so many that I know who don’t have their dad anymore, or maybe they never had their dad, or maybe their relationship with their dad is broken and painful.
And I’m hear to tell you, that Father’s Day is for all of us. Why? Because we have a God in heaven who desperately wants to be our father. He designed each of us, created each of us, made plans for each of our lives, and loves us so much.
I think of these verses today as I think about Father God.
Isaiah 46:3-4 I’ve been carrying you on my back
from the day you were born,
And I’ll keep on carrying you when you’re old.
I’ll be there, bearing you when you’re old and gray.
I’ve done it and will keep on doing it,
carrying you on my back, saving you. (The Message)
He’s been there from the day we were born and he’ll be there us until we are old and gray.
1 John 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! (NIV)
He loves us so much that he is inviting us to become his children. If you need to know more about how to become God’s child, read this post.
Psalm 103:13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. (NIV)
So today, accept his invitation to be your Father, a father who completely loves and cares about you and is with you! Celebrate his love for you and take comfort in his tenderness and grace.
And I thought I’d better throw in some pictures of the other Gingham Apron dads, my brothers. They’re really great dads, too.
So Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful dads out there. We honor you today for all that you represent and all that you do for our families. And let’s all remember that Father’s Day is for all of us.
