As I sit (with my foot propped up) writing out and meditating on scripture this morning, I listen as the cattle are softly bawling across the road.
The sun is brightly shining on this cool morning, down on the green grass and the cornfield just across the way. It shines down on the backs of our Black Angus cattle, making their hides shine like they’re been rained on. The pond glistens with the morning sun.
I look out to see a mama robin supplying food for her young. She has built a nest in our “Christmas tree” tall evergreen. Their little mouths are wide open, bodies bopping up and down, anxiously awaiting for for their provider to return with their breakfast. The outdoors is wooing me to come enjoy all that it has to offer. And enjoy I do! There is so much work to be done this time of year. We had much needed rain a few day ago–so thankful for it. This gardener is seeing mowing, trimming, weeding and pruning that is calling for immediate attention. But first things first.
My time in God’s Word is important! I look to Him to guide me through this day. I look for nuggets of truth that I can apply to every situation I face for this day.
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
Draw near, and He will draw near to you. He promises.
And other friendly books surround me today–books that have great reputations–filled with stories that bring God glory. Yes, that’s what His children are to do–bring attention to our good, good Father.
Check out these books for some good reading:
This devotional has 31 topics for our married viewers. It’s a pro-acive way to jump-start your day or week in a positive way, to build strength and love into your daily lives with your spouse.
This well-worn book tells the story of Brother Andrew…smuggling bibles into parts of the world that are against God’s Word. Fascinating! How bold and courageous this man was!
Matthew 28 calls us to go and spread the gospel to all nations. Let’s ask ourselves, “How am I doing?”
And then, one of my all-time girl favorites–“The Gentle Ways of a Beautiful Woman,” by Ann Ortlund. The wife of a pastor, this woman has done much for the kingdom of God, one step at a time. She is a great encourager who covers every aspect of a woman’s life. I’ve given away many a copy over the years. Hope you will take time to find yourself a copy. :)It is certainly a timeless treasure for every “daughter of the King” library.
Oh—-and about my foot, you ask? Well…funny story–it fell asleep at church the other morning. Had my legs crossed for some time as I was engaged in the sermon. Had some wedge heels on (of course :() and I jumped up, started walking and my food was sound asleep. I reached the step and it just wouldn’t hold me. Therefore……………………..I sprained my foot really really well. It’s been many shades of the rainbow this past week, so I’ve been a good girl trying to stay off it, keeping it elevated…..with ice of course. That’s why the lawn and garden are calling my name. !
Have a grand week in the Lord. May He continue to bless you and keep you.
“He fills us each morning with His constant love, that we may
sing and be glad all our life.”

Thank you for your (always needed) reminder that if we put God first, it will help our mindset on everything else.
And take good care of that foot!
