I was breezing along mid-afternoon, thinking about all that needed to be done for the day: once I pick up my daughter from school, then I need to call the contractor. Oh, and I forgot to reply back in that email. The laundry needs folded and put away. When we arrived home, I walked in the back door, and I suddenly remembered that I did not unload the dishwasher earlier in the day, as I had intended. And what will I be making for my family for supper tonight? Let me just see what I have in the fridge…we are out of milk, and bread.
And then I heard this song, and I just stopped dead in my tracks…
“He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane,
I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions
Eclipsed by glory and I realize just how beautiful You areAnd how great Your affections are for me
And oh, how He loves us, oh
Oh, how He loves us, how He loves us all”
It was so uplifting for me to hear right in that instant. He loves me and he is jealous for me. Really me? How can that be? I am a sinner, I make mistakes, I fail, I am wrong, I fall short. I didn’t get that completed, and I forgot. Today was a day when I was feeling like I was falling short.
Do you ever have those thoughts, too? Do you ever feel like life is rushing by at such a fast pace, that you just need to stop and take a deep breath above water?
Take heart, that perspective quickly can change, when being reminded again and again of Jesus’ deep love for us.
Why do I need to be reminded that Jesus loves me? Do I really deserve his love?
Galatians 2:20 reads, I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God. who loved me and gave himself for me.
You can breathe – and float – above water – always and forever with a lasting relationship with him. It is not temporary. You can rest securely in the fact that, “He Loves Us.” Stop and take a minute today to remember this – carefully listen to this beautiful song. Thank him for his sacrifice for you on the cross. It is invaluable. It is eternal. Experience his great love and joy for you today, by trusting in him!
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— Ephesians 2:4-5
He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions
Eclipsed by glory and I realize just how beautiful You are
And how great Your affections are for me
And oh, how He loves us, oh
Oh, how He loves us, how He loves us all
He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions
Eclipsed by glory and I realize just how beautiful You are
And how great Your affections are for me
Oh, how He loves, yeah, He loves us
Oh, how He loves us, oh, how He loves us
Oh, how He loves
And we are His portion and He is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If His grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking
And heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets
When I think about the way
Oh, how He loves us, oh
Oh, how He loves us, how He loves all
How He loves
Yeah, He loves us, oh, how He loves us
Oh, how He loves us, oh how He loves
Oh, I love
Yeah, He loves us, yeah, He loves us
How He loves us, oh, how He loves us all
