What do you do with hamburger and a pie crust?
Make hamburger pie, of course. I love cooking with hamburger. It’s fast, nutritious and delicious! This version happens to be Italian. Mexican seasonings could easily be swapped for another delicious dish.
Paired up with a tossed salad and a slice of crusty bread, this meal is a snap!

Italian Hamburger Pie
Ingredients
- 1 prepared pie crust
- For Filling:
- 1 1/2 lb of ground chuck
- 1/3 C onion diced
- 2 cloves of garlic diced
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 8 oz. can pizza sauce
- 1 t Italian seasoning
- 1 egg beaten
- 2 T flour
- 2 T half and half optional, milk
- For Topping:
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/2 C Parmesan cheese shredded
- 1/2 C Mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/2 t mustard spice
Instructions
- Place pie crust in a 9-10" pie dish; set aside
- In large frying pan:
- Brown hamburger and onion
- Add in garlic and cook another few minutes
- Add salt and pepper, pizza sauce, egg and flour. Stir all together and pour into pie dish.
- Cover with topping
- Bake 400 degrees for 35 minutes. Let rest 5-10 minutes before slicing into pie sections.
