Merry Christmas, friends. This Christmas season, I’ve been thinking a little bit about our hearts. The word just seems to continue coming to mind, so I think the Lord wants me to pay attention.
I guess it started when I was listening to Joy to the World, and the line “let every heart prepare him room,” really resonated.
Lord, let us prepare room in our hearts for You today.
And then, I’ve continued to notice the word, “heart” in my Bible reading this month.
Luke 2:19, “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”
God, amidst the presents and festivities today, help us to treasure and ponder the miraculous events of how You came to be with us.
Psalm 9:1, “I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
Lord, we thank you for all you’ve done; for sending your precious baby Son to be Immanuel, God with us.”
Galatians 4:6, “Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”
Father, thank you for allowing us to become part of your family.
Ephesians 3:17, “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”
Jesus, make your home in my heart today; help me to trust in your salvation.
Perhaps you’ve got nudge in your heart that there must be something more to Christmas than just the presents, the decorations, and the food. Today is the day that we celebrate how Jesus came to us to save us from the darkness of our sin and bring us into the light of His salvation. If you’ve never trusted him as your savior, this Christmas Day would be the perfect time to do that. You can read more about becoming part of His family here.
Merry Christmas! We hope you have a peaceful, wonderful day celebrating God’s love for us.
