Our sweet neighbor, Linda, seems to show up at my door when I’m most in need of food. Perhaps she sees the extra cars in my driveway. Known around these parts for her great cooking skills (and results 🙂 ) I believe she out-did herself with this bar recipe. Of the foods I served to our family that weekend, these bars flew out of the pan. And….the crunch. These bars crunched just a bit. Everyone wondered about the “crunchy” ingredient. Bet you’re wondering, too. 🙂
Linda B’s Vanishing Bars
Ingredients
- 2 C brown sugar
- 2 C flour
- 1/2 C margarine
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp soda
- 1 C milk
- 1 t vanilla
- 1/2 C chopped nuts (I use pecans or black walnuts)
- 1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 C toffee chips
Instructions
- Mix together the brown sugar, flour and margarine. Reserve 1 C of this mixture and place in another bowl. To the remainder, add egg, salt, soda, milk and vanilla. Pour into a greased 9×13 pan. To the 1 C reserved mixture, add the nuts, and chips. Sprinkle over the top of batter in baking pan. Bake 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cut into bars when cool.
Thanks to my neighbor’s generosity, this yummy recipe just fell into many hands who will love it, too.
