A couple of weeks ago, while visiting Iowa, my mom, Matthew, Lincoln and I went to Christmas with The Chosen. If you haven’t seen it, you’re in luck because it is now on youtube. Please please please check it out below!

One of the main themes of the episode was Mary’s song, which is sometimes called the Magnificant. In the show she is recalling how this song came to her while she was pregnant with our savior, Jesus.
I did take a few minutes to read through Luke chapter 1 and the words were so beautiful there, that I wanted to share them with you. I hope you can steal away for just a few minutes and let the words soak in.
Mary is pregnant with Jesus, and she is visiting her cousin Elizabeth. She is willing to be God’s servant and to do whatever he asks. She is so overcome by the goodness of God, that she sings this song:
Luke 1:46-55
And Mary said:
“My soul glorifies the Lord
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”Merry Christmas from The Gingham Apron Gals to You!
