introduction from I Love you, Mom by Blythe Daniel and Helen Mccintosh
Wouldn’t this gift be just perfect to give to your mom, mother-in-law, or someone who has mothered you? Or here’s another idea- you could help your grandchild give this to your adult daughter or daughter-in-law. I think it will bless a lot of moms this upcoming Mother’s Day! Or it would be a very meaningful birthday gift of a “just because” surprise gift.
The co-author, our friend Blythe Daniel, has generously gifted a book to us that we get to give away to one of our readers. Just leave a comment below. Tell us something special about your mom. We’ll pick a random winner on May 4th. If you win, you can give it to your mom on Mother’s Day.

My mom has been gone about 10 years now. I still think of her every day. She gave ALL the time. She taught school, starting in a one room school with K-8 grades for over thirty years. And she gave in our little Methodist church and at our little library. She was a math whiz, serving as treasurer for more than one club and “keeping the books” for my dad’s business and our family farm. She taught us three girls to sew and cook and clean – although that didn’t stick very well with me! HA!
I would love to have a copy of the book.

Cathy,
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment. Your words make me think of my Grandma Maxine. She was a country school house teacher as well, and I have her teachers license framed and hanging in our homeschool room. I loved hearing her stories of how she kept the “big boys”under wraps! Your comment also makes me think of my mom who taught me how to cook, sew, and garden. Unfortunately for me, the gardening skills didn’t stick! 😉

Thank you for helping me (and others) be aware of this precious book. Would share with three generations in my family and deeply- connected friends who nurture our lives. The scriptures have added meaning now when I read my Bible. I appreciate your thoughtfulness in gifting this book. Our Junior Women celebrate each other and our Moms at a luncheon the week of Mother’s Day. Would love to know more about the authors. Mary
Annie says
Mary, yes I think this would be a perfect book for your group! We met the author, Blythe, when we were seeking to publish our book, The Gathering Table, and she became our literary agent. One of her passions in life is helping mothers and daughters build stronger relationships. She and her mom have another book called Mended that is a really powerful resource for mom and daughter relationships.
Dr. Mary Richards says
Hello Annie…Would it be possible to send an address or email or telephone number as a contact for the authors? Want to share an interview with the authors with others. Will ask our library to make the book “Mended” available. Am grateful for all you share…Mary
Annie says
Hi Mary,
This is a great idea to interview the authors, and thank you for requesting Mended at the library! Here is Blythe’s email: blythe@theblythedanielagency.com.
Thank you! Annie

My mom will be 80 this month and is still going strong and dad is going to be 85. I am so blessed to still have them in my life.
Annie says
How wonderful! I’m so glad that she is still going strong; what a blessing!
Brenda in Iowa says
My mom and I had such a special bond. Oh no – it wasn’t always this way. I was the ‘normal’ smart-mouthed teenager. It was after I got married, I realized how much my mom had ‘grown up’ – ha! As I look back on my life, I was a chubby girl but my mom never made me feel unloved and always showed compassion to me. She cheered my success with permanent weight loss later in life but it never changed our relationship. She was such a rock. At the end of her life (95-97 years old), I had the privilege to leave my job as a nurse (it didn’t seem like a privilege at the time) and care for her right up until the moment she entered heaven. I still miss her but I know she’s having a grand time praising our Savior all the day long.

Brenda,
This is such a lovely comment. As a mom, I am encouraged to show more love and compassion to my kids. I also love that you have the assurance that she is with Jesus and that you will see her again. 💗
