Melanie Little says
My Mom was and is a wonderful Mother. She was the best cook, but sadly dementia has taken that from her. I would love to have have another one of her German chocolate cakes that she always made for my birthday. I would give the gift to my daughter, who loves to cook.
Denise says
Hi Melanie,
I am so glad you have/had a wonderful mother in your life! What a beautiful blessing this has been for you. Sounds like you and your family have shared the love of cooking and making special favorites for their loved ones. My husband’s favorite is German chocolate cake which he delights in every year for his birthday, too.
Thanks for sharing, friend, and thank you for supporting us!

I look forward to each of your devotional emails. Thank you!
If I won this package, I would give it to my daughter, as I feel she has become the best mother in my world!
Denise says
Thank you so much for your sweet words. Some do not like devotionals as much as a new recipe, but we here at The Gingham Apron know how important a fresh devotional is. God always works through the message, doesn’t He?
Awww…..I’ll bet that daughter of yours has had a great role model to learn from.
May the Lord bless you both!

Jean Carlson says
Hi. My mother, Helen, passed away unexpectedly at 32 years old. Consequently I don’t remember her real well. I was 7 when she passed away. My Dad loved her very much and kept her memory alive. Five years later he met a woman named Ruth and remarried. He loved her and was a great example to all of us. I had 4 brothers in my birth family and gained 2 more brothers. Both my Dad and Stepmother have been gone for many years but my mother’s sister is still living at 90. I have the privilege of hearing some stories about my mother that I wouldn’t otherwise have heard. I am so blessed.
Denise says
Bless your heart. Thank you for sharing your touching story with us. We so appreciate you. I’m glad your father remarried so that you could have a mommy to grow up with. Wow! 6 brothers!! And I thought 3 was a handful! 🙂 I’m sure you relish in your parent’s memories. How wonderful that your aunt provides you with beautiful stories of your birth mom.
God is good! Thanks for sharing!
In Christ’s love,
Denise

My Mom has always loved me unconditionally. I was adopted and I 100% believe in this verse Psalm 139:13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. God placed me in a loving home with a Mother who led me to God and was a true example of a Godly woman.

As a Mom and Grandma I think of our loving arms that holds our children and Grandkids.
But then I think of our Lord and how much more He holds us with his loving arms.

This will be my first Mother’s Day without my mother. She passed away in September at the age of 94!!! We had our share of struggles with each other. But I’m absolutely certain that God gave me exactly THE mother I needed. I’ve never doubted my mother’s love for me.
Denise says
I am truly sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in September, as well. We, too, had some struggles. Yes, God knows what He’s doing, doesn’t He? Feeling loved is a treasure for you to always cherish. Thanks for your support! It means so much to us.

My mom was my hero, she raised 7 kids,we talked about everything, she called me her rock,She was an avid reader, reading sometimes 3 different books at a time. I was her side kick in the kitchen, she could turn the simplest ingredients into something delicious, food and money was scarce but she could turn nothing into something and to this day I miss so many of the dishes she used to make. I would give this to my daughter who is newly married as would love it.
Denise says
What a tribute to your mom! Your words are so beautiful about her. Sometimes the more scarce money is, the better the food tastes. 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to share with us. We appreciate it!
Happy Mother’s Day!

I have the most wonderful mother and mother in law they are both very supportive and love to cook. My mother makes sure you get your favorite meal and cake on your birthday and my mother in law is always making meals and getting the kids and grandkids together. I would end up giving it to my daughter (as both of them would give it to her any way as she is the only granddaughter and loves to cook)

My mother is my rock. I still call her every day even as an almost 40-year-old mother of 2, and we text throughout the day as well. This pandemic has been really difficult not being able to see her and made me appreciate her even more. I go to her with the big and the little and know that she will always tell me the truth, but with love.
Denise says
Tania,
Your story makes my heart sing to know that you and your mom have such a close relationship!
Hopefully, your mom will Love our book. Thanks for sharing!

This would be a wonderful gift of encouragement for my daughter-in-law who became a first time mom this past October. Due to COVID we’ve only seen our new grand daughter twice since then. I hope this will spur her onto renewing her faith. Great works: I use your Scripture Reading Plan daily. Hope Canadians are included in your contest!!!

I am living on memories of my dear mother,She has advanced dementia and hasn’t cooked for a long time. We have many fond memories of the good cooking she blessed us with. Its scary how soon I have come to this place…where i cant ask her any more questions about a family recipe… about canning produce, about planting garden… I am grateful to have her for so long…
Denise says
Hi Marie,
Life gets really hard at times, but the Lord is always there to help us. Heaven will be filled with love and joy….no heartache and pain. Glad you can remember the great times with your dear mom.

I received “The Gathering Table ” for Christmas, I read it cover to cover. It was so inspiring. The recipes I have tried were wonderful. My Mom would of loved it also. My mother and mother in law were such great examples to me, starting with how to be a good wife, then mother and now a grandmother. Thank you for continuing to inspire me through your emails and on FB.

June C. says
My Daughter separated herself from her family eight years ago. This is the greatest heartbreak of my life: daily a constant state of mourning the relationship between the two of us. The ultimate bond between a Mom and Daughter.
I know only the Lord can change her heart back to me and the rest of our family. I daily pray for her and her relationship with Christ, first and foremost.
The reason I share this?
January, I began purchasing items I know she’ll enjoy. From a copy of a favorite childhood DVD to an antique cake platter. Your beautiful and inspiring cookbook will make a perfect addition to her ‘You are missing from me package.’ Once I feel it’s complete, I send it off with a prayer knowing God is in control. Thank you for time reading and blessing with with your gifts and talents.
God bless you all.
Denise says
Dear June,
My heart aches for you. The Lord softens hearts. Our Father draws people to Himself. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin. As you pray, the Lord continues to work on your daughter. Thanks for sharing. You have such a big heart to develop a “love package” for your daughter when there is restoration. Hold on to hope.
In Christ’s love,
Denise

This would be so difficult to decide which of my 4 daughters to give this too! And I really would love it for myself! Maybe I could just make every recipe and share it with the scripture every visit we have together! It is so beautiful.
Denise says
Hi Marti!
Perhaps one day every daughter will have a copy of her own! 🙂
Thanks for sharing with us. Glad you love to cook and make your family happy.

Joy Vegerano says
I am thankful that my mother raised me with Christian principles, manners, responsibility, morals and values. I know there a lot of times I didn’t like it or understand, but when you have your own kids, you “get it.” I miss her so much. She taught me how to cook and to make “milk gravy.” I am forever full of gratitude. I love you Mom!!
Denise says
Thanks for sharing, Joy!
Milk gravy was on our table last night, along with potatoes and chicken fingers. Mr. Farmer always compliments me on the meal when there’s gravy. I’m glad my mom taught me to make gravy, too.
This makes me smile!

Lauren Dechman says
A mother’s love has so many facets. However, I am thankful for my Christian mother who was an example of Christ daily. She wasn’t perfect, she was purposeful. She displayed the grace of a Proverbs 31 woman in two ways. First, by respectfully, loving my father and in her commitment to their marriage of 50 + years. Secondly, by demonstrating in her walk & talk what the love of 1Cor 13 looks like lived out in a person’s life.
Denise says
Lauren,
What a beautiful tribute regarding your mother! How blessed you have been to have such a firm foundation to build your life on. Thank you for sharing!
love in Christ,
Denise
Lauren D. says
A mother’s love has so many facets. She wasn’t perfect, but she was purposeful. I am thankful for the Christian mother God gave me. Her love was displayed in 2 ways. First, her love of 50 + years to my dad. She respectfully loved my dad and was committed to their marriage in the good and bad times. Second, she was committed to teaching her 4 daughters what it meant to be women of God. As she lived out practically and gracefully the principles of Prov 31 and displayed the love of 1Cor 13 in her daily walk and talk.
Laurie Moudy says
A mother’s love is unconditional, always giving, never ending and constant.
