I have something new in my kitchen!
Mr. Farmer has always told me, “ya gotta have the right tools for the job”. I’ve been wanting a great big cutting board for some time now. I have many….in all shapes and sizes, and I use them constantly. Some are too little….some too flimsy….some too…well……..aggravating because they slip and they slide. Annoying. You know what I mean. There are 21″ between my stove and sink, My dream was to have a chopping block installed between the two when we remodeled our kitchen a few years ago, but because of the sink installation, the carpenters said it just wouldn’t work the best. I found this thick and pretty one the other day as I was shopping. It couldn’t be more perfect for this spot! It’s 2 ” thick and 20″ long, so it doesn’t slide around when the sous chef (me!) is chopping, slicing, and dicing. This wonderful tool has truly enriched my love for cooking!
Think I’ll make some colorful tacos today. My veggie drawer is full of all the right ingredients for this “delicious dish!”
The right tools make the task so enjoyable! I recently purchased this grapefruit knife which also works well for slicing and chopping tomatoes.
Julia (Childs, that is) taught me how to chop onions: Cut off the top, then the bottom. Peel back the outer layers. Slice 1/2 onion, the chop. Again, this particular knife works wonders.
Can’t live without this amazing herb. It smells up the entire kitchen when I slice into it. This ingredient really tops off the tacos!!
