Happy New Year! I am excited about a new year, and as I look ahead, there is a lot I hope to accomplish. But along with the excitement, I also start to feel a bit overwhelmed when I think about all that needs to be done a wife and mother. Life is so full, isn’t it?
Maybe that’s why one of my favorite songs right now is “Shoulders” by For King and Country. The words express how God, the maker of everything, Lord of all, is available (and wants) to help me in my life. How refreshing!
Chorus Lyrics:
My help comes from You
You’re right here, pulling me through
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness all on Your shoulders
Your shoulders
My help comes from You
You are my rest, my rescue
I don’t have to see to believe that You’re lifting me up on Your shoulders
Your shoulders
Even though life can be so overwhelming. I thank God for being my help through each and every moment. Today I am listening to this song and thinking about these verses. I am asking the Lord for his help during this new year.
Isaiah 50:7
But the Lord God helps me;
therefore I have not been disgraced;
therefore I have set my face like a flint,
and I know that I shall not be put to shame.
Isaiah 41:13
For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand;
it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
Psalm 121:2
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 146:5-6
Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever.
