We recently bought a large box of pears from a local fundraiser. The kids love them and I love that they are eating healthy. However, about half way through the box, they get tired of them and the remaining pears ripen quickly. The other day, in an attempt to keep the pears from going to waste, (the cheap side of me won’t allow food waste), I thought I would try to make Pear Crisp. It exceeded my expectations and was a perfect for using up our extra ripe pears. I simply took my go-to apple crisp recipe and made the appropriate changes to accommodate pears. It was a hit! Check out the recipe below!
- 8 large pears - peeled and diced
- ½ cup sugar
- 4 Tbs Flour
- Cinnamon
- Topping
- 1 stick butter
- ½ cup flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup oatmeal
- Place pears in an 8x8 baking dish

- Sprinkle desired amount of cinnamon over pear mixture (personal preference)
- In a separate bowl melt the butter for the topping

- Spread topping evenly over pears in dish
- Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes
