I don’t know about Thanksgiving with your family, but celebrating with my family, you better believe that there will be a pecan pie. If you are lucky there will be a sliver leftover the next day to enjoy…but don’t count on it. It’s one of those quintessential desserts that I enjoy once a year on Thanksgiving. Several years ago when I made myself to bring along I was surprised at how simple this pie was to make. In fact, my 6 year old daughter practically made it herself this year…seriously, all but putting it in and taking it out of the hot oven. 🙂
Now that we have your dessert covered, how about a few activities or reminders of gratitude to kick off the holiday season. Check out these links below:

Psalms 100:4-5

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 Tbs brown sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup corn syrup
- ⅓ cup meted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 whole eggs beaten
- 1 heaping cup pecans (whole or chopped, your preference)
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
- Place your already made pie curst in your pie can and crimp the edges
- Mix the sugar, brown sugar, salt, corn syrup, butter, vanilla and eggs together in a bowl.
- Place your pecans into the bottom of the unbaked pie shell
- Pour the syrup mixture over the top of pecans.
- Cover the top of the pie and crust lightly with foil
- Bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for 20 minutes be careful not to burn the crust or the pecans.
- The pie should jiggle just a bit in the middle but not too much. If it is overly jiggly, lightly cover with foil and bake and additional 20 minutes.
- Allow to cool for several hours and enjoy!
