Are you ready for Pizza Night?
Over the last year, my kids have become BIG pizza fans…well, compared to a few years ago they wouldn’t have anything to do with it! We have discovered many variations to pizza – from making your own pizza dough to turning it into a pizza sandwich. My four year old son, just loves pepperoni. He eats it all by itself in the handfuls. A few nights back we had spaghetti, which is another favorite here. But we had some leftover spaghetti sauce and realized we could easily use that for some pepperoni sliders. The kids (and adults too) loved the meal – a simple warm pizza sandwich was just the right ticket for our cold, rainy day.
- 12 slider buns - such as Hawaiian Rolls
- pizza or pasta sauce (I used Fareway pasta sauce)
- pepperoni slices (approx 3 oz)
- 1 c. shredded mozzarella
- 2 T.grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 2 T. butter, melted
- ½ - 1 t. garlic powder
- ½ t. dried basil
- ¼ t. dried oregano
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease the bottom of a 9 x13 baking pan.
- Cut the sliders or buns in half and set aside
- Place the bottom half of the rolls in a prepared pan and spread with pasta sauce
- Top each roll with pepperoni slices ( I did 4 slices per roll)
- Sprinkle with mozzarella on each and place top half of rolls back on top
- Mix the remaining butter and seasonings, and 1T.Parmesan together. Then spread over tops of the rolls.
- Cover with foil and bake. Sprinkle with Parmesan. Serve immediately
