Wrapping gifts while Christmas music plays in the background brings me much joy (as long as it’s NOT the night before our celebration!) Ha! Yes, I’ve been guilty of procrastinaiton….in just about every category of life. This year I’m sticking to my daily lists as our family Christmas will be about ten days early. So, the wrapping began this afternoon after I received 3 good-sized boxes in the mail. The craft room couldn’t hold any more so I had to do something. 😉
All unwrapped gifts piled onto the ping pong table in the basement. I brought down several beautiful Christmas CDs to listen to while wrapping. The music caused me to really listen and meditate over all the details of the first Christmas. Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed my time today, wrapping away, singing and meditating about why we celebrate the “most wonderful time of the year.” God has done so very much for us. His love for us is so incredible that we really should, literally, shout it from the mountaintop and “Go tell it on Mountain, over the hills and everywhere.” He truly has done amazing things for all creation.
Now is the time to enjoy the preparations of the season. Yes, there are many tasks to oversee and prepare for. Take deep breaths from time to time, walk a little slower and turn on the sounds of Christmas. You’ll be so glad you did.
Angels from the realms of glory
Wing your flight o’er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation’s story,
Now proclaim Messiah’s birth
Shepherds, in the fields abiding,
Watching o’er your flocks by night,
God with us is now residing,
Yonder shines the infant light:
Come and Worship
Christ the newborn King
Sages, leave your contemplations,
Brighter visions beam afar;
Seek the great Desire of nations,
Ye have seen his natal star:
Saints before the altar bending,
Watching long in hope and fear,
Suddenly the Lord, descending,
In his temple shall appear.
Sinners, wrung with true repentance,
Doomed for guilt to endless pains,
Justice now revokes the sentence,
Mercy calls you—break your chains:
Though an infant now we view him,
He shall fill his Father’s throne,
Gather all the nations to him;
Every knee shall then bow down:
All creation, join in praising
God the Father, Spirit, Son,
Evermore your voices raising,
To the eternal Three in One
Are there really angels among us? You betcha. If you believe a little of the Bible, you must believe it all. And it’s so exciting to see all the references about angels.
This morning at bible study, the ongoing theme continually popped up. Get into the word of God yourself. Read it, study it, meditate upon it. Know and understand who made you; who the One true God is. What the world has to offer you and me is NOTHING compared to what God, our Creator has for those who love Him. The Christmas story is found in the New Testament books, beginning in Matthew and also Luke. If you haven’t been there for awhile, read it slowly and drink it in. The more you read, the more you will strengthen your faith in God. And as you prepare for this Christmas, let the Word of God and the beautiful Christmas music be a part of your preparation.
