With all the convenience foods around these days, it’s often easy to forget the simplicity of many homemade dishes. One being that of whipped cream……Cool Whip has taken over and rarely does one serve old fashioned whipped cream.
Give this recipe a try, whether you want to add a gourmet touch to dessert or just trying to cut out preservatives, this whipped cream boasts only three ingredients. You will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to make.
It’s starting to warm up here, we have been having snacks of fresh fruit with a side of whipped cream to dip it in. As my husband said last night, “Do we have anymore of the homemade cool whip left?” (Shaking my head)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 Tablespoon confectioners sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- In a large chilled bowl whip the heavy cream until peaks begin to form.
- Beat in sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Serve immediately.
Make sure not to over-beat your mixture or you will create a butter like consistency.

Ever since I found out that whipped cream is just heavy cream that’s beaten, I’ve been going to it instead of the canned stuff. And recently I’ve gotten into whipped coconut cream, which is just what it sounds like: (chilled) coconut cream that’s whipped up; so good! 🙂
