Does anyone else getting into baking mode around the holidays? I don’t know if it’s the shorter, cold days or the excitement of being with family and friends…but this time of year I really pick up the pace on baking treats. I always like to always have goodies on my counter for everyone to enjoy. These Toffee & Chocolate bars are super easy to make and a favorite around the holidays. They begin with a base of graham crackers at the bottom, followed by a buttery layer of brown sugar and pecans and topped off with melted chocolate. Yum! Be sure to give them a try!
- 1 package honey graham crackers
- 2 cups good chocolate chips (Hershey's or Ghirardelli are my favorite)
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Lightly grease a 9"x13" baking pan and place graham cracker sheets evenly in a single layer covering the bottom of the pan.
- Add butter to a large sauce pan and melt over medium heat. Once melted add in brown sugar and chopped pecans bringing mixture to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes stirring constantly and spread in an even layer over graham crackers.
- Bake for 7-8 minutes or until the edges are bubbling. Remove from oven and immediately pour evenly chocolate chips in a single layer across the top. Cover with aluminum foil and allow chocolate to melt.
- After chocolate has melted (apprx 10 min) remove foil and with a spatula spread chocolate evenly across top of the bars.
- Allow to cool completely and then refrigerate for apprx 30 minutes and enjoy!
- Store covered.
