I have recently discovered that I LOVE sweet potato fries. They are absolutely delectable, healthy, full of wonderful nutrition, and so easy to make.
Sometimes I just whip up a batch for a quick lunch. I dip them in sugar-free ketchup and add in a protein powder coffee for dessert to round out the meal.
The secret ingredient (well, not secret because I’m gonna tell you) is cayenne pepper. Don’t skip it! The spice pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the potatoes. You’re gonna love it; trust me!
We actually had these on our Thanksgiving table this year. Always in the past our family had had a sweet recipe that used sweet potatoes, but in the past few months we discovered that we like this savory version of sweet potatoes better. So I thought, “Why not have them at Thanksgiving?” The salty/spicy flavors balanced the sweetness of the other dishes like cranberry sauce so well. I think I might make them for a Christmas feast as well.
How is your Christmas season going? What are you looking forward to this holiday? At our house, the Christmas cards are coming in, and it is so fun to see the faces of loved ones. Our kids will be caroling at a “drive-by” caroling event next week, and we saw this amazing Christmas tree a few days ago.
