Spring is (finally) here! Boy, it feels so good to see the snow melted up and little peaks of green grass coming through. I love to see life come back again after a long, harsh winter. By the end of this week, it reached almost 60 degrees. With the warm sunshine on my face, the kids were just delighted to have all of the outdoor time again. I spotted robins in the yard today, and tulips are just beginning to peak through the dirt.
On the farm, we are finding new baby calves almost every day! It’s so exciting! They are just so adorable. Our daughter often goes along with her dad to spot calves and help out. They both love each other’s company, and are grateful to work side-by-side. They feed hay bales to the cattle – and will need to do so until they can eat grass again. This process (below) starts with a large hay bale that we gradually unroll – ever so slowly – so that each cow and calf get equal amounts of hay (we can’t have any hogs, ha!).
