May, in the state of Iowa, is well………BREATHTAKING AND FANTASTIC.
I praise God when I see new life. Mr. Farmer and I checked the cows last evening. Watched him courageously tag a couple calves.
One young mama likes to kick her calf away. She’s in a pen in the barn, so Mr. Farmer oversees the little calf entering the pen for his meals. He’s a vigorous eater and loves life. He’ll make it just fine. This little calf has learned to come to dinner from behind so he doesn’t get kicked.
We’ve had plenty of rain, with some coming into the basement, which hasn’t happened much over the years. Always makes me think of those who live in a flood plain. No fun!
The landscape couldn’t be greener. Couldn’t be prettier. I’ll show you around:
My mom shared these bulbs from her garden some 20 years ago. I always think of her and the fun day of planting we enjoyed way back when.
Here’s another variety from Mom
These flowers are small and friendly. Dividing and replanting is easy with this plant.
These daisies brighten up any garden. I’ll be dividing these soon, too.
These bright yellow iris were here when I moved to the “home” place almost 30 years ago. I suppose my wonderful mother-in-law planted them. She loved gardening.
This foxglove was planted about 3 weeks ago. It fell over during some heavy rain last week. It’s still stunning. 🙂
Again, I give Grandma Maxine credit for these orange and yellow Columbine. These cute little up-side-down flowers make a great cut flower for indoor bouquets.
This trailing vine, Clematis is vining right up the mailbox. I love it. It blooms at least twice a year.
The clouds were rolling through when I captured this view. I felt a view droplets of rain as I was taking in the beauty of God’s green earth.
Speaking of God, I would like to thank Him for creating so many beautiful things for us to enjoy.
“The Lord has done great things for us. We are glad.” Psalm
Great are You, Lord!
Have a blessed and wonderful week! And……
thanks for stopping by.
Oh………………..and…………take time to smell the flowers. They are for us to take pleasure in.

Spring is slow to come here in NE Iowa (we are about 20 miles east of Waterloo/Cedar Falls). I haven’t seen much for flowers blooming yet. It has just been rainy and dreary. So much crop not planted yet in this area, the fields are too wet, not flooded just plain wet. We have almost 300 acres of soybeans that need to go in the ground, it just about gets fit and then it rains again. Makes for worried farmers!

Denise,
Thank you for sharing the beauty of springtime on the farm as well as the reminder of new birth in all of creation as seen in the young calves. Your surroundings feel like a sanctuary. The photo tour reminded me of one of my favorite hymns, “For the Beauty of the Earth.”
I am ever so thankful for the inner senses that are awakened this day by all of God’s creation. Grace and peace to you.
Love,
Cath

Cath,
Thank you so much for your beautiful response. The beauty of the earth gives me pause to think about the One who created all. And we praise Him and give Him the glory He deserves. Your comments are a treasure to all of us.
