I Took a Walk Today

It’s here! The warm weather is letting us know that summer is officially here! Well, all most. The thermometer has read above 90 the past few day and Mr. Wind keeps on a blowin’. I’m about the only one around here that really enjoys a windy day. It’s so refreshing to me. Think I’ll take a walk. 🙂

Coreopsis

The coreopsis plant has outdone itself this season. It’s time to “divide and conquer” this beast.

Cat Mint

This cat mint and knock out rose make a fine colorful pair. Smells a little like sage. So easy to grow.

Farmer Joe in the sprayer

Farmer Joe pulled into the field right across from our house. Love to see our guys working so close to home. The wings (boom) unfold to make a really wide swath. It’s fun to observe as he unfolds and folds up the sprayer before moving to the next field.

The tires are very narrow and stay between the rows of corn. The spraying must be done before the corn gets too high or it will break off. Needless to say, this son is on the run from early morning to dark. The windy days are not in his favor!

I took a walk down  “the old muddy road”  today, an endearing title my mother-in-law gave her beloved road. I think of her every time I walk it. Maxine was the greatest–a true example of a Proverbs 31 woman. How I miss her. So kind…so gentle…such a saint of Jesus.
The cattle like to cool off in our shallow  pond.
Mama and little one give me a stare after snack time.
Maude and Mavis are chit chatting about the “stranger” on the road.
There is little shade in this pasture, and some found it.

The little ones love to rest and romp together. They really are fun to watch. They have a very large playground! I really did interrupt their rest time. Their mamas are never too far away…..always keeping an eye out for them. “Am I friend or foe, ” they wonder.

Our friendly twin windmills are a mile to the north but their majestic size looks as though they are right here in the lush grassy pasture.

They are almost always twirling.
A brave and curious calf comes over to the fence to see me. Sometimes they run away, but not this one.
Farmer Joe spraying right across the road from me. He stopped for a minute, got out a we chatted just a bit. He always knows the speed and direction of the wind. He’s careful.
I thoroughly enjoyed the view on this warm and breezy day.

Walking this road, seeing the beautiful landscape brings joy, comfort and solace to me.

I think……I pray……I watch……I listen……I LOVE the solitude, the peace and quiet of “my neck of the woods” in thegreat outdoors.

“Be still, and know that I am God:

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalm 46:10

Hope you listen to one of my all-time favorite artists, Steven Curtis Chapman.

Have a great day! (And be sure to get out and take a walk!)
