The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? (Why in the world should I be afraid when the Lord is on my side?)
The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Again, I shouldn’t. No doubt about it, the Lord’s strength is incomprehensible.)
When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. (No, it won’t be me who will stumble and fall, so watch out evildoers for the Lord is NOT on your side.)
Though an army encamps against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident. (Why? The Lord is fighting for me.)
One thing have I asked of the Lord that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life; to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire (ask) in His temple. (Yes, these bold words are action steps; steps of action, obedient steps of action to show the Lord your faithfulness, your commitment, your trust in Him during difficult times.)
For He will hide me in His shelter in the day of trouble. (Yes He will. Trust that He will. He doesn’t lie. Do you need shelter today? )
He will conceal me under the cover of His tent; He will lift me high upon a rock. (Absolutely…..He does what He says He will do….always. Look at this protection with bold confidence. I love it!)
And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me. (Yep, that’s how He cares for the righteous. Pretty amazing, huh?)
And I will offer, in His tent shouts of joy. I will sing and make melody to the Lord. (Again, I take these action steps towards obedience and worship. When I freely give my heart to humbly worship Him, it frees me to offer up shouts of joy. Oh, to worship God in the beauty of His holiness.)
Hear, Oh Lord, when I cry aloud. Be gracious (favor I do not deserve) to me and answer me! You have said, “Seek My Face.” (I need God to help me. I will seek Him and find Him.)
My heart says to You, “Your face I will seek.” (I can’t do this on my own. I need help from the Lord.)
Hide not Your face from me. Turn not Your servant away in anger. Oh You who have been my help. (He won’t.)
Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! (He won’t!)
For my father and mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in. (Sometimes we cannot depend on those we love to help in our time of need. But we can always know that we can call on Him.)
Teach me Your ways, Oh Lord, and lead (I’m ready for You to lead the way) me on a level path. (Not roller-coaster path. That only wears people out, right?)
Give me not up to the will of my adversaries. (He gives secure protection.) For false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. (Satan is always at work in the old world.)
I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! (Purposely gaze upon the “land of the living”. Hallelujah, we are alive in Christ Jesus! I just love this victorious attitude.)
Wait for the Lord. (Yes, His timing is not always what we think it should be, but it is perfect, so be patient.) Be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27 (What a psalm.) ☺️❣️💕

Wow, Denise! I love your comments added to the verses. What a great way to study a Bible chapter or series of verses.

Joan, you have encouraged me to keep going in my writing. Yep, that’s sort of the way I tackle the words as I go along with each passage. I know you have a heart for God’s word like I do. Keep going, cousin!
